Just the Basics
Running from March to August 2016, the Just the Basics mystery quilt-a-long will require no special rulers and no scary techniques. The design is confident beginner level and there will be no paper piecing, no applique, no improv piecing and no y-seams! Not that there's anything wrong with any of those techniques, but sometimes it's fun to see what you can make out of basic blocks.
I promise, the basics are anything but boring!
Here's the schedule. New posts will be published the first Wednesday of each month, and I will add the links here as the posts are made available.
March 2016 - Introduction and Gather Your Fabrics
April 2016 - HSTs
May 2016 - Flying Geese and Square-in-a-Square
June 2016 - HSTs (Again, But Not as Many!)
July 2016 - Flying Geese (Version 2) and Joining More Units
August 2016 - Putting It All Together!
October 2016 - Finish Parade
To be sure you never miss a post, you can follow my blog by Bloglovin, Feedly or by email. The links are all on my sidebar.

ReplyDeleteHelp!! i have the same machine as you. A Kenmore 385.19110. I want to free motion quilt. I have the correct darning foot. I did this beifre on my machine 4 years ago but now I can't remember the settings. I have heard...feet dogs down and then feed dogs up but change stitch length to 0. I cant get my tension right. What is the proper set up for free motion quilting please? Karla
ReplyDeleteHi, Sew Blessed! I'm replying here because you are a no-reply blogger, so I hope you check back. I don't actually change any settings on my machine, except the tension. I leave the feed dogs up and the stitch length as is. I increase the tension from 4-6. I hope that helps!
DeleteJust found your QAL, hope to get started this week. Your instructions are great.
ReplyDeleteRead your devotions, thank you.
Grandma, I'm so glad you'll be joining in! I can't wait to see your quilt! I'm glad you enjoy my devotions too :)
