Blogger's Quilt Festival Fall 2014 - Spin Cycle

Thanks to Amy, of Amy's Creative Side, for organizing the Blogger's Quilt Festival once again for those of us who can't go to Quilt Market.

For this Festival, my second entry is my Spin Cycle quilt, which I made for the Schnitzel and Boo Mini Quilt Swap. I'm entering it in the Home Machine Quilted category.
The block was designed by Gudrun Erla for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, volume 9. I love those magazines!

I love how the quilting became a whole new design element in the background. This was the first quilt on which I was brave enough to focus so much attention on my free motion quilting. The quilting was inspired by the cover of Judy Madsen's book Quilting in Wide Open Spaces. Free motion quilting is pretty much my favourite part of the whole quilt-making process now!
Please forgive the progress shots. Apparently I didn't take more close ups of the quilting before mailing it to my swap partner!
Be sure to check out all the other amazing quilts entered in the Festival. There's a lot of talent in this quilting community!
